Ben Clymer: Hodinkee

Ben Clymer, Hodinkee, The Founder Hour, Podcast, Watches, Horology

Ben Clymer is the founder and executive chairman of Hodinkee, a luxury watch and lifestyle website. He is an authority and influencer in the world of watches and was dubbed “The High Priest of Horology” by the New York Times in 2013. He recently also launched the Fairgame Golf app, golf’s first digital clubhouse, along with co-founder and professional golfer, Adam Scott.

Ben was an avid collector as a kid and first became interested in watches when his grandfather gave him an Omega Speedmaster.

Starting a watch brand or website wasn't necessarily Ben's plan. After college at Syracuse, he worked in finance at UBS. When the global financial crisis hit in 2008, he took a severance package and enrolled at Columbia University to earn a master's degree in journalism. While a student, he founded Hodinkee as a fan site and blog for watch aficionados like himself.

We sat down with Ben during his visit to Los Angeles to learn all about his upbringing, why he started Hodinkee, how he grew the brand, his vision for the future of the watch industry, his favorite timepieces, and much more.
